Playing with Lights
Well, Happy 2017. My goal is to post more often!
In November a few friends gathered and played with different lighting. I have come to find out it is called rim light.
Rim light is where you set the flashes on each side of your subject on a black background. Here is the camera settings I used:
- ISO = 200
- 1/160 sec at f/14
- my flash did fire, but this was blocked from the subject and only used to trigger the rest of the flashes.
This shot was set up so only the flash on the right went off. I love the effect.
With this image I had the subject face the light and lite up more of her face.
This is the true rim shot I was working towards. I will be practicing this shot. It should be much easier now that I got my new radio triggers for Christmas.
Rim Fail - But love this full color shot
Here is where there was too much light to get the rim shot. However, I love the look and color.
